A Jane Austen inspired board game by Dux Somnium

Yesterday my copy of Endearment by Dux Somnium arrived. And - oh my - it is so beautiful.

I begged for the game back in September 2025 during a Kickstarter campaign. Yesterday it finally arrived (and it was therefore much faster than the estimated fulfillment time :-) ).

Endearment is a strategy board game where you take on the role of one of Jane Austen’s beloved heroines as you traverse Regency England, improve your traits, and engage in social rivalries in pursuit of a timeless romance. The game is played over a series of Chapters.

Besides the basic game I ordered the two extensions: The season in London and A trip to Bath. The season in London adds new London heroines and new ball gowns whereas A trip to Bath brings the heroines to Bath to meet another heroine.

I also got Little Endearment, the family and child version of Endearment. The game is about animals and has some very cute drawings of animals. The goal of the game is to have as many points as possible by bringing animals of a kind to your farm.

I was not yet able to play Endearment yet (hopefully I will be able to do it tomorrow) but I played Little Endearment several times with my son (8 years old) as well as my son and my husband. We are no native speakers as we are Germans but the game was easy to learn and was no problem for a child who does not speak English. Once you know how to play the game everything is explained by the symbols. The game was very entertaining and we needed around 20-30 minutes for one game. We liked it very much and enjoyed each round. I think we will play it again very soon.

Besides the games I, later in the campaign, also got two puzzles. I have not yet opened it but the drawings are beautiful and the box in book style is so exquisite.
